DATUK ABDUL RAHMAN BIN SULAIMAN
Datuk Abdul Rahman joined the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department as its director of Crisis Communication since August 2001. A veteran journalist and former Member of Parliament, Datuk Abdul Rahman began his career as a broadcast journalist with Radio Television Malaysian in 1966, before he joined Bernama, the Malaysia National News Agency in 1971 as a senior journalist. He served as Bernama bureau chief in Johor, the agency’s foreign correspondent based in Bangkok, News Editor, Editor of the General News Service before being appointed the Editor-in-Chief in 1989. Datuk Abdul Rahman, a graduate of Universiti Sains Malaysia, opted for an early retirement in 1995 to contest as a Barisan nasional candidate in the general elections and won the Parit Buntar Parliamentary seat. He was also the Parit Buntar UMNO Division head from 1995 – 2001.
